Sky is to cut 1,000 jobs in its engineering division (satellite installers) as viewers make the switch from satellite to internet-delivered TV services. Sky has just over four years left on its existing satellite carriage contract with SES, the operators of the Astra satellites used to carry the service. A decision will soon need to be made on force migrating current satellite users over to internet-delivered TV services.

It looks like Freesat and Freeview will go the same way when the new Freely service starts to be rolled out.
It's the end of an era for satellite. Internet-delivered TV is fine if you have a fast and reliable internet connection, but if you live out in the sticks, internet based TV might not be an option for some.

Yeah the internet is good for the majority but still a lot of people on slow speeds. I use internet based companies for any of my sky needs as i can cancel when I like.
